Outstanding Learning
The Outstanding Learning programme at Southborough High School provides extra challenges, work and experiences to stimulate the educational development of a number of students drawn from across Years 7-11. These students have demonstrated outstanding learning across their subjects, (some in more than one subject) and were identified with specific criteria. The key message is that lots of students can demonstrate outstanding learning and our list will be ever-growing, no doubt. We make the difference to all students at Southborough and those who demonstrate outstanding learning are not forgotten but encouraged and stretched further so that they achieve their very best both in and out of school. Each subject within the school has identified what is that makes outstanding learning in their subject, and the detail can be viewed by clicking on this link. Here are some students’ achievements: 2020: Mithushan Singarajah has accepted an offer to read Medicine at Cambridge University. His path to this success has not been easy: he is in the first generation of his family to go to any university but has sought inspiration from those around him at school. His path was further complicated by the disappointment of his estimated results being initially downgraded, but after the school campaigned, the grades were reinstated. Here is a brief video of him on BBC Newsnight expressing his plight.
