6th Form Junior Leadership Team

JLT21

At the end of September and following a stringent application process which included an interview with Head of 6th Form Mr Needs and Deputy Head of 6th Form Mrs Coen, the new Junior Leadership Team for 2021/22 was announced.

Junior Leadership Team Mentor Mrs Coen commented “Last year our Junior Leadership Team was truly exceptional and I really didn’t believe that we’d get the chance to replicate such a wonderful group of hard working and dedicated students. However, having led the application process and spoken in depth to each and every one of the successful candidates, I know that they will make an incredible team and work extremely hard over the next year in order to make their mark.”

“After the sort of eighteen months we have all experienced – pandemic lockdowns, online learning, students not being able to mix as they normally would – we have listened to our Sixth Formers’ concerns and as a consequence our Junior Leadership Team this year contains an extra number of Wellbeing Ambassadors, who are keen to make sure that the topic is always at the top of the agenda throughout the coming year.” added Mrs Coen.

.Head Boy Jonathan Suwankumpoo commented: “I feel incredibly honoured to be Southborough’s new Head Boy and I aim to follow in the footsteps of previous, inspirational Head Boys from recent years and work very hard to make a positive difference. My first formal role - speaking at our recent Open Evening in front of hundreds of visiting parents and future students – was extremely daunting but ultimately rewarding. I felt proud to be representing the school and to share my journey at Southborough with the hundreds of visitors who were present that evening.”

Deputy Head Girl Paul (PJ) also spoke eloquently and well at our Open Evening, despite only joining us at the beginning of September. She commented: “ From the moment I  joined Southborough Sixth Form, I was struck by the strong sense of community here. The teachers can’t do enough to help us and are very approachable. I’m glad I made the move!”.
