Southborough Success

Many will be aware already that Southborough is the only school in the royal borough of Kingston to be fortunate enough to provide ball boys for the Wimbledon Tennis Championships.

Over the last three years Southborough have provided approximately 60 pupils to play a vital part in this prestigious and world famous tournament. Most of these boys have had the privilege to ball boys on the famous centre court at Wimbledon meeting all the very best tennis players in the world.

Other achievements that have taken place at Southborough include a number of boys participating in the Duke of Edinburgh Award. This is an award set up to provide children with life long skills and aims to keep them physically active , through expedition trips, camping trips and involvement within the local community.

Facilities and Equipment

On site the school has two gymnasia, a playground, a caged area and a new fitness gym, partly funded by a successful lottery bid. The school also has seven acres of playing fields situated across the road from school and five tennis courts. The department is well resourced and benefits from heavily stocked equipment stores.

A full and extensive extra curricular programme is in progress throughout the year, which includes inter form competitions and a daily programme of games activities. In addition to the traditional sports on offer we also offer water skiing, kayaking, rock climbing and golf.
