Sixth Form RAG WEEK:
Raising Thousands of Pounds for Charity Each Year
One of the most rewarding activities within the Southborough Sixth Form calendar is RAG WEEK, which takes place each year during the last week of the Spring Term, just before we break up for the Easter holidays.
RAG stands for ‘Raising And Giving’, and our Sixth Formers are given sole responsibility to organise an entire week’s worth of fun activities to both engage with younger members of the school and raise as much money as possible for charity.
Each year, students organise daily cake and hot chocolate sales, raffles, penalty shoot outs, table-tennis tournaments, football, BINGO sessions, Sponge The Teacher, a Fancy Dress Fun Run & Fashion Parade – together with a variety of enjoyable shows that both staff and students take part in and which the whole school comes and watches.
This year alone, our Sixth formers raised an amazing £2,500 for charity, half of which will go to the Fircroft Trust, a local charity working in Kingston Upon Thames, with adults living in the community with severe to moderate mental health problems and/or learning disabilities. The other half will go to the George Pantziarka Research Trust.
Over the years, our Sixth Formers have literally raised thousands of pounds for a wide variety of different charities, including a few listed below:
RAG WEEK gives Southborough Sixth Formers a genuine sense of purpose and achievement and they learn how rewarding and important it is to go out of your way to help others.
