Southborough Sports Ground Project Proposal

Southborough is delighted to bring you exciting news about our plans for the future of Southborough High School and the wider community..!

As part of our strategic facilities improvement programme we are planning to install a state of the art 3G sports pitch at our playing fields. This facility will transform the school's sports offer as well as community sports opportunities in the local area.

Expected benefits of the project:

Community

- Create a genuine community hub based upon physical fitness, sport and teamwork for all ages, abilities and genders

- Facilitate community use after school, during the weekends and during the school holidays
Satisfy the needs of local individuals, groups and organisations - Further integrate the school into the local community

Students

- Build a lifetime habit of participation.

- Empower physical literacy (building physical competency alongside confidence, enjoyment, knowledge and understanding) Improve behaviour, developing resilience, building character.

- Enhance learning and academic achievement - Instil values and virtues such as friendship and fair play School

- Provide high quality, modern Physical Education lessons that engage boys of different backgrounds and abilities is a fundamental part of every student’s school experience

- Increase the use of facilities which are, of necessity, underused by the school

- Attract new students in a competitive local educational market

Prior to embarking onto the next stage of the project and submitting a full planning application, we would like to share our plans with our parents, students and other key stakeholders. The school will be holding an open consultation session on Wednesday 1st May from 6pm until 8pm.
