Here at Southborough High School, we are committed to helping every student achieve their full potential, both academically and personally. We recognise that each learner is unique, with individual strengths and needs, and we tailor their journey accordingly. Whether through a traditional academic route or a more blended approach including vocational study, our aim is to nurture ambition, build confidence, and develop well-rounded young people prepared for life beyond school.

One of our most exciting initiatives is the ‘Young Leaders’ alternative pathway, designed for students aged 12 to 14. This programme selects pupils to take part in real-world challenges that develop essential life and leadership skills.

Through hands-on activities and community projects, students build confidence, resilience, and a deeper understanding of the world around them. Though still in its early stages, the programme has already had a significant impact, reflecting our dedication to holistic development as well as academic progress.

Our partnerships with local organisations provide invaluable opportunities for meaningful engagement. A notable collaboration is with the Royal Star and Garter in Surbiton, where students connect with elderly veterans through shared activities like bingo, storytelling, and quiz sessions.

They also raise funds through sponsored walks and contribute to the upkeep of green spaces. These experiences help shape their character, foster empathy, and strengthen community ties.

This year, our students extended their efforts to national causes. They chose to support Great Ormond Street Hospital (G.O.S.H) and organised a well-attended Quiz Night. With strong support from families and staff, the boys impressed everyone with their presentation skills and professionalism.A silent auction featuring Wimbledon Tennis memorabilia helped raise over £1,000 for G.O.S.H.

Building on this success, a prize draw raffle is now live via ParentPay, further demonstrating their initiative and commitment to giving back.

We are incredibly proud of our students’ creativity, compassion, and drive to make a difference—qualities that will serve them, and their communities, well into the future.
